Virginia following a bad script

To the editor:

I’ve seen this movie before.

I moved my family to Virginia from the northeast several years ago. Born and raised in New England, it became apparent to me that liberal politicians had ruined the traditional way of life that I grew up with.

Under the guise of “doing good for others,” liberal politicians have turned local and state government into a tool for their ideology. That ideology holds that the elites who run government know what’s best for everyone else. They slowly and consistently undermine the freedoms granted in our Constitution. Their policies promote dependence on government at the cost of self-reliance and freedom.

Look at the results of their liberal policies: The cost of living in New England is now among the highest in the nation. They have higher state and local taxes, higher costs for utilities and higher crime rates, and they are driving businesses to move to states with pro-business climates.

These policies have made it very difficult to live in and support a family in the Northeast.

If Virginia wants to avoid putting itself into the same position as states in the Northeast, then its people need to go to the polls on Nov. 5 and support Ken Cuccinelli, E.W. Jackson and Mark Obenshain.

Terry McAuliffe and the other Democrat candidates are representative of the tax-and-spend liberals of the Northeast. They have nothing to offer Virginians but more government intrusion into our lives and higher taxes.

I’ve seen this movie before, and if the liberals win, it doesn’t end well for Virginia.
