The city of Suffolk is under a coastal flood advisory until 5 p.m. this afternoon.
Minor flooding is occurring along the Nansemond River, including at the Kimberly Bridge and Bracey Drive. The Kimberly Bridge is closed because water is covering all four lanes of travel, a city spokesman said.
Estimated rainfall amounts for the city for the period ending Saturday morning are between 2.5 and 3.25 inches. The heaviest rain is forecast to end in Suffolk around 7:30 Thursday morning, but the chance of rain will remain at 30 to 40 percent through the weekend.
