With two buildings already in Harbour View, TowneBank is in the midst of making an even greater investment in the area.
One building of Towne Bank’s expansion on Harbour View Boulevard is 70 percent complete, a bank official said. Two other buildings are in the beginning stages.
Keith Horton, senior executive vice president and chief administrative officer for TowneBank, said the new office building would be complete in late August or early September.
Other buildings, including a bank member service and training center as well as a storage facility, are about 10 percent complete.
TowneBank decided to add the new buildings to address increased growth in North Suffolk, he said.
“We’ve had rapid growth, and we need the space to bring some of the operations back together,” he said.
When completed, the 4,300-square-foot office building will hold more than 200 people, Horton said.
The training center will be about 1,700 square feet and will be used to host different kinds of training and business development meetings.
Horton said TowneBank currently has a small space in which they can hold meetings, but the new facility will hold more people.
The center will seat about 300 people theater-style and 200 in a dinner setting.
“It will also allow us to have a meeting area for when we pull different divisions of the bank together,” he said.
Additionally, the center will be available for some TowneBank members to use for various community events, Horton said.
The training center and storage facilities should open early in the first quarter of 2012, he said.
The construction began in the fall. Horton said they are using all local contractors, including W.M. Jordan Company, to complete the expansion.
