Wanda Lorraine Simmons, 51, of Suffolk, died Friday, Sept. 20, 2013, at Sentara Nursing Center in Portsmouth. She was a native of Suffolk and the daughter of Shirley A. Branch and the late Morris A. Simmons Sr.

She attended Suffolk High School. She was a member of St. Paul Pentecostal Holiness Church, where she was secretary of the Women’s Convention, a Sunday school teacher, vice president of Pastor’s Aide, previously directed St. Paul’s youth choir, VBS combined teacher, and assistant to the assistant secretary.

Besides her mother, Shirley A. Branch, she leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Sha’Debra M. Simmons and Tiara N. Simmons, of Suffolk; two sisters, Helen A. Simmons, of Suffolk, and LaToya C. Simmons, of Williamsport, Pa.; three brothers, Morris A. Simmons Jr., Stephan L. Simmons, both of Suffolk, and Calvin R. Simmons, of Norfolk; four grandchildren, Davonte Simmons, Tyzjay Simmons, D’Morris Simmons, Ja’Sona Simmons; two nieces, Tynesha Jennings and Takima Simmons; one nephew, Travaras Simmons; other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held at noon, Thursday, Sept. 26, 2013, at St. Paul Pentecostal Holiness Church, 20663 Thomas Wood Trail, Zuni, officiated by Bishop Early Gay Jr. Interment will be in Chapman Cemetery in Zuni. A wake will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2013, at St. John’s Pentecostal Holiness Church, 218 N. Division St. Crocker Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
