The Virginia Cities Fall Basketball League held its second weekend of games on Saturday, and the Suffolk Lady Storm outlasted a tough Hampton team to win 37-21 at the Creekside Recreation Center.
Suffolk was reduced to seven available players, but it still avenged a defeat to Hampton in last year’s championship game. The Lady Storm broke open a close game with strong defense in the third quarter.
Cam Harris led Suffolk with 18 points and Brianna Copeland chipped in 10.
Suffolk (2-0) faces Portsmouth next Saturday with a 1 p.m. tip-off at the Creekside Recreation Center.
