Player of the Week nominees

Following are this week’s nominees for the Duke Automotive-Suffolk News-Herald Player of the Week:
- Kaylor Nash, senior for Nansemond-Suffolk Academy volleyball: In victories against Portsmouth Christian School, rival Norfolk Academy and Salem High School on Monday, Tuesday and Wedneday, she racked up 42 kills, 31 digs, 15 aces and one block. Monday she achieved the 1000th kill of her career, and Wednesday she became the first in school history to also get 1000 digs. Her week continued in a tournament over the weekend.
- DeShon Saunders, junior for Nansemond River High School football: Despite the loss to Churchland High School, he was a force offensively after transitioning from quarterback to running back and receiver. He logged the Warriors’ only touchdown of the game on a 50-yard run up the middle. He gained at least 79 yards on the ground for the game.
- Summer Parker, senior for Lakeland High School field hockey: She scored once in a 4-0 victory against Nansemond River High School on Monday. On Wednesday, she produced a hat trick and two assists in an 8-1 win over King’s Fork High School.
