After a recent trip to overtime against Great Bridge High School last week, King’s Fork High School went there against visiting Indian River High School on Monday. This time, the Lady Bulldogs avoided a shootout and came out on top, 2-1.
Senior Holly Wilson scored the goal to end the game, redeeming herself from a missed opportunity against the Lady Wildcats last week. The goal was assisted by junior Randi Fiel.
Despite the win, KF head coach Courtney Van der Linden was still not pleased with her team’s play, and she said the girls themselves sensed their game was off, as well.
“Intensity is key in winning a game,” Van der Linden said. “It wasn’t there like it needed to be.”
The win was welcome, though, as the Lady Bulldogs improved to 2-2 on the season.
Junior Rachel Gist scored King’s Fork’s first goal, assisted by Wilson.
The Lady Bulldogs open up conference play this evening, playing against host Lakeland High School (4-0, 1-0).
