One of Suffolk’s major thoroughfares will close for three days next week to replace a railroad crossing.

The 5100 block of Nansemond Parkway, near Northgate Industrial Park, will be closed beginning at 7 a.m. Tuesday for the replacement of the Commonwealth Railway crossing by their contractors. The closure will continue through Thursday.

The railway company will place detour signs and message boards in the affected area ahead of time. Shoulders Hill Road, Bennetts Pasture Road and Bridge Road should be used to detour.
