A local church will present an Easter drama presentation on Palm Sunday and Easter Sunday.
Thomas Hall will make his 16th appearance as Jesus Christ in the production at Metropolitan Baptist Church, 125 County St. The play will be performed April 17 and April 24 at 5 p.m. each night.
“The drama’s main purpose is to win lost souls to Christ,” director Arvis Hall said. “The world is so full of evil, hatred, killing, stealing and disasters great and small, fires and storms, floods and catastrophes, that it’s really time to seek God’s word and to know Him for yourself.”
Thomas Hall was chosen for the role of Jesus because of his similarity in appearance to traditional representations of Christ, Arvis Hall stated.
The drama will depict the last hours of Jesus’ earthly life, including some of His miracles, the Last Supper, the trial, crucifixion, resurrection and his second coming.
The cast includes more than 150 members of the church, as well as 13 deacons, six trustees, five deaconesses and six ministers.
The production is free to the public. For more information on the play, call 539-2696.
