Navy Ensign Morgan C. Oblinsky, son of Valerie Mervine of Virginia Beach and Frank Oblinsky of Suffolk, recently graduated from the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md., and was commissioned to his current rank.
Oblinsky successfully completed four years of intensive academic, physical and professional training. As a graduate of the Naval Academy, Oblinsky completed a four-year, total-immersion program where a strong, balanced academic program focused on the educational needs of the Navy and Marine Corps, is superimposed on a strict, professional military training environment emphasizing the development of leadership skills.
The class of 2013 graduated 1,047 men and women, including 603 Navy ensigns and 223 Marine Corps second lieutenants. This is the academy’s 163rd traditional graduation ceremony, graduating approximately 79,900 midshipmen to include 4, 000 admirals and generals, one president, 200 members of Congress, three governors, 73 Medal of Honor recipients, one Nobel Prize winner and 40 astronauts.
Oblinsky is a 2006 graduate of Salem High School of Virginia Beach.
