A new website to assist employees, contractors and businesses affected by the U.S. Joint Forces Command closure now is online.

The website, www.JFCOMtransition.com, is in addition to a telephone hotline, 757-461-7537, that was launched last month.

The two resources, along with a brick-and-mortar office set to open later this month, will help provide services for people who are affected.

The website includes a survey for displaced workers to complete, a listing of upcoming job fairs, organizations that can offer assistance, services that are available at the center, labor market information and more.

The transition center, which will be located at 7025 Harbour View Blvd. when it opens, will be able to offer a range of services, from simple services like access to computers, phones, fax and copy machines to more intensive services like one-on-one assistance with resumes, case management and interviewing skills workshops.

In addition, employers also can get help at the center with such things as counseling, training, assistance in finding qualified workers, information on how to comply with applicable laws and more.

The hotline, website and center will be operated by Opportunity Inc., a workforce development board.
