Barlow earns community service award

Randolph Barlow, president and CEO of Farmers Service in Smithfield, has received the Grace Keen Distinguished Community Service Award by the Isle of Wight-Smithfield-Windsor Chamber of Commerce.

Last year, Grace Keen was the first recipient of the award, and Chamber officials agreed the award would be named in her honor.

Among the requirements for the award, nominees must:

  • Be residents or business owners in Isle of Wight, Smithfield or Windsor;
  • Be over the age of 25;
  • Be involved in the betterment of the community for at least five years;
  • Have demonstrated community leadership;
  • Be credited with at least two areas of community service;
  • Have demonstrated unselfishness towards the economic betterment of the community

Barlow has volunteered with the Smithfield Fire Department for years, as well as with the American Heart Association and CHIPS.

Randolph is a great representative of the business community, but he is a doer,” Isle of Wight Sheriff Mark Marshall said. “He wants an end result.”
