To the editor:

Congressman J. Randy Forbes recently offered a bill before Congress that is meant to take the Internal Revenue Service out of Obamacare.

This is an issue I hope both Democrats and Republicans will get behind now that we see the IRS scandal is something much broader than originally reported.

To think that an agency that is supposed to be nonpartisan and apolitical has unfairly targeted groups whose mission is in conflict with the president’s is both scary and alarming.

Both parties would be smart to take action against a practice that could ultimately hurt either if it becomes precedent, and I believe Forbes’ “Prevent IRS Overreach Bill” is the right first step.
