The Nansemond River Pilot Club is selling handmade Lenten crosses to the public to raise money for charity.

Dorothy Cogswell wears a Lenten cross available for sale from the Nansemond River Pilot Club.

The crosses are formed with horizontal and vertical nails wrapped with purple material and topped with a “crown of thorns.” The crosses are $5 each and are available for sale to all.

The crosses come with a card denoting the symbolism of the horizontal and vertical beams and the intersection of the beams.

All the money raised in the project goes toward the charity organizations the club supports. Pilot International is an organization of executive, business, professional and volunteer community-minded people working together to improve the quality of life in local communities. The organization focuses on preventing diseases, injuries and disorders of the brain.
