Police are investigating a caretaker of a young boy who was found wandering around the 200 block of North Broad Street Monday morning.

Around 11:20 a.m., a police officer noticed a vehicle stopped in the middle of the street, city spokeswoman Diana Klink said. The driver stated she had been watching the child walking in the street with no adult supervision for about 15 to 20 minutes.

The child was unable to tell officers where he lived, so several detectives and officers did a door-to-door search, Klink said. Officers located the caretaker, who was not aware the boy had left the home.

The incident remains under investigation. The age of the child was not immediately available.
