Russian bells to chime Sunday

In honor of the Easter celebration by the Orthodox Church, at 12:04 p.m. Sunday, the Suffolk Christian Church carillon will play “Russian Hymn,” followed by a Russian triple peal, a trezvon, in an elaborate rhythmic pattern that will sound unusual to Western listeners, according to the Rev. Michael Halley.
The special program “only approximates the richness of actual Russian ringing,” he said.
Sean C. Bilby serves as the church’s chimes master.
