Hazel Delores Cannon

Hazel D. Cannon (born Buffaloe), 77, passed away on Monday, April 29, 2013, at the Lee Memorial Hospital in Norfolk after a brave fight with cancer.
Born on Nov. 4, 1935, in Norfolk, she was the eldest child of seven born to the late Evelyn and Waverly Buffaloe. She graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in 1960 and from Norfolk State University in 1970. She worked as a registered nurse at the historic Norfolk Community Hospital and at the Naval Medical Center Portsmouth. She retired in 2001. She was predeceased by her beloved son of 58 years, Donney Cannon, in 2007; and her adoring sister, Lynn Eden, in 2006. She leaves her loving memories to her brothers, Laurence, of Roseville, Calif., Melvin, James and Gerry of Norfolk; her sister, Deborah Richardson, of Chesapeake; and her five nieces, two nephews, 14 grand-nieces, and 13 grand-nephews.
Memorial services will be held on Sunday, May 5, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Goodwill Baptist Church, 2415 Colonial Ave., Norfolk. Friends and relatives are invited to the home of Kimberly Harris, 5367 Bellefield Road, Norfolk, on Saturday, May 4, 2013, from 1 to 9 p.m.
