Two adults were sent to the hospital suffering from smoke inhalation after a Sunday afternoon fire on Kings Fork Road.
The fire in the 2800 block was reported just after 3 p.m. Units arrived on scene about five minutes later.
Firefighters found heavy fire damage to the brick rancher. A family of three — father, mother and adult son — was displaced from the home, which had heavy fire damage. The father and mother were taken to Sentara Obici Hospital for treatment for the smoke inhalation.
There were no injuries to firefighters. Two dogs died in the fire.
Fire investigators determined the blaze originated in the attached garage, but the cause is still under investigation.
Responders to the blaze included Engines 4 and 6, Ladder 6, Rescue 1, EMS 2, Tankers 1 and 7, Battalion 1 and Medic 6A.
