A Suffolk man died in a Sunday motorcycle crash in Virginia Beach.

Eric Anthony Ward, 50, of the 100 block of Barrett Drive, was pronounced dead at a hospital where he had been transported after the wreck, according to Virginia Beach police.

Emergency communications received reports of the accident in the 3300 block of Indian Creek Road about 5:05 p.m. Sunday. The investigation revealed the victim was traveling westbound on Indian Creek Road, operating a 2013 Suzuki Boulevard motorcycle, when he “failed to negotiate the curve to the right and ran off the eastbound shoulder of the roadway,” according to a press release. The motorcycle traveled about 160 feet before it overturned.

Speed and alcohol are considered factors in the crash, the press release stated. The wreck remains under investigation.
