A Suffolk teen is charged with possessing an explosive device after police officers responded to a call in the 4700 block of Magnolia Drive on Thursday.
Officers found a juvenile at the scene, who told police he and his friend, 18-year-old Peter Anthony Perez II, had a homemade device and attempted to set some brush on fire, according to city spokeswoman Diana Klink. The fire marshal’s office determined the individuals had earlier ignited homemade devices in the parking lot of Dick’s Sporting Goods.
Perez was charged with manufacture or possession of fire bomb or explosive materials or devices and possess, sell or distribute drug paraphernalia.
The case remains under investigation.
