Edkert Lee Waller, 77, of 436 Collier Crescent, Suffolk, died Monday, March 25, 2013, at his residence. He was a native of Halifax County, Va., and the son of the late Thomas Waller and Elsie P. Waller. He was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Waller, and son, Edkert Waller Jr.
He retired as a construction worker. He was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church, where he was in the male chorus and a member of the feeding ministry. He also was a member of the Womack Brotherhood Masonic Lodge No. 413.
He leaves to cherish his memory his daughter, Malecia Waller, of Suffolk; two sons, Kenzel Waller, of Jamaica, N.Y., and Edkert Lorenzo Waller, of Hanover, Va.; three sisters, Marie Morrison, of Long Island, Ellen Yvonne Thompson (John), of New Castle, Del., and Sally J. Adams, of Long Island, Va.; five brothers, Rufus Waller (Joyce), of New Castle, Del., William C.B. Waller (Kim), of Cheverly, Md., Early Waller (Minnie), Jesse Waller (Jerlean) and James Waller (Minnie), all of Long Island, Va.; special daughters and sons, Koscina Draper, Valerie Grimes, Lisa Copeland, Eric Woodley and Lester Pannell; grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, godchildren and friends.
A funeral service will be held at noon, Friday, March 29, 2013, at Oak Grove Baptist Church officiated by Dr. Anthony Copeland. Interment will be in Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
