Takie Britt of Suffolk has been inducted into the Chowan University Chapter of Alpha Lambda Delta, the national honor society for first year college students.

The organization held its induction ceremony in Vaughan Auditorium March 3 to recognize a class of 54 new members.

Britt is a freshman majoring in allied health biology.

Alpha Lambda Delta was founded in 1924 at the University of Illinois to encourage superior academic achievement, to promote intelligent living and a continued high standard of learning, and to assist students in recognizing and developing meaningful goals for their roles in society.

Membership in Alpha Lambda Delta is open to full-time freshman students who earn a scholastic average of 3.5 or better at a four-year college or university.
