Sharon Revell thought she had won $10,000 in the Virginia Lottery’s Jewel 7’s Scratcher game.
“I was dancing all through the house,” she later told Virginia Lottery officials.
But it got better. When she scratched the rest of the ticket, she realized she had won a lot more than $10,000.
“I started feeling ill,” she said. “I had to get my husband to finish scratching it.”
The ticket ended up winning the game’s $100,000 top prize. She bought it at the 7-Eleven at 3903 Victory Blvd. in Portsmouth.
Jewel 7’s is one of dozens of games available from the Virginia Lottery. Tickets can be Emerald Green, like the one Revell bought, or Sapphire Blue, Diamond White or Ruby Red.
Revell is the eighth player to claim the $100,000 prize in the game, which means eight top-prize tickets remain unclaimed.
