Suffolk’s Anderson makes WFU list
Ashley Anderson, a resident of Suffolk, was among more than 1,900 students from Wake Forest University who made the Fall 2012 dean’s list.
CNU announces dean’s list
Ten Suffolk students have been named to the dean’s list for the fall semester at Christopher Newport University. These honor students are enrolled in at least 12 credit hours, have earned no final grade below C, and have earned a grade point average of at least 3.5 on a 4.0 scale.
Receiving the honor from Suffolk were the following:
- Erin Clark, a cell, molecular and physical biology major
- Katharine Clarke, an accounting major
- Laura Ellison, a psychology major
- Chelsea Hall, an accounting major
- Inhye Hong, a fine arts major
- Breanne Lowe, a psychology major
- Devon Nelson, a political science major
- Andrew Owen, a political science major
- Erycka Spears, an accounting major
- Derek Wright, a management major
Chowan announces dean’s list
Chowan University has announced its fall 2012 dean’s list. Dean’s list winners have accomplished a grade point average between 3.25 and 3.79 for the semester.
Area students achieving placement on the list include the following:
- Takia Britt, a freshman biology major from Suffolk;
- Charles Fisher, a senior psychology major from Suffolk;
- Holly Harcum, a senior interdisciplinary studies major from Suffolk;
- Danielle Hemmis, a sophomore psychology major from Suffolk;
- Alora Lincoln, a sophomore physical education major from Smithfield;
- Jasmine McDonald, a senior elementary education major from Suffolk;
- Shelby Pendleton, a senior English major from Suffolk;
- Sally Rensch, a senior elementary education major from Carrsville;
- And Scott Van Eck, a senior graphic design major from Windsor.
JMU announces dean’s list
The following James Madison University students from Suffolk have been named to the dean’s list for the fall 2012 semester:
- Sarah Brown, a sophomore, whose major is nursing;
- Christina Cho, a senior, whose major is psychology;
- Benjamin Corbett, a senior, whose major is psychology;
- Samantha DeFreitas, a sophomore, whose major is interdisciplinary liberal studies;
- Danielle Gallagher, a junior, whose major is mathematics;
- Chelsea Glynn, a senior, whose major is communications studies;
- Thomas Harbour, a sophomore, whose major is geology;
- Kansis Howlett, a senior, whose major is health sciences;
- Stephen Jurko, a sophomore, whose major is biology;
- Megan Richardson, a sophomore, whose major is kinesiology;
- Sarah Stacy, a senior, whose major is English;
- Johnathan Trotman, a junior, whose major is international affairs;
- And Skylar White, a senior, whose major is chemistry
Students who receive dean’s list honors must carry a semester course load of at least 12 graded credit hours and earn a GPA of between 3.5 and 3.899.
JMU announces president’s list
The following James Madison University students from Suffolk have been named to the president’s list for the fall 2012 semester:
- Courtney Guy, a junior, whose major is interdisciplinary liberal studies;
- Jessica Overton, a senior, whose major is interdisciplinary liberal studies;
- Andrea Atkinson, a senior, whose major is justice studies;
- Jennifer Asbell, a sophomore, whose major is media arts and design;
- Meghan Rader, a senior, whose major is music;
- And Ericka Welsh, a senior, whose major is psychology.
Students who receive president’s list honors must carry a semester course load of at least 12 graded credit hours and earn a GPA of 3.9 or above.
Suffolk students graduate from JMU
The following Suffolk students graduated from James Madison University during the Dec. 15 commencement exercises:
- Melissa Dunn graduated with a master’s degree in occupational therapy.
- Corita Welsh graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in hospitality and tourism management.
- Alexis Taves graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in hospitality and tourism management.
Jonathan R. Alger, who presided over his first commencement exercises as president of the university, conferred degrees to 782 graduates. Marine Corps Maj. Justin Constantine, an Iraq War veteran and advocate for the Wounded Warrior Project, spoke at the ceremony in Harrisonburg.
NC State announces dean’s list
Three students from Suffolk have been named to the dean’s list for the fall semester at N.C. State University.
Cole Scott Barclay, Trevor Stuart Hall and Jackson Caleb Key achieved the distinction.
Hall did so with a perfect, 4.0 grade point average.
Paris earns dean’s list honor
Brooke Paris of Suffolk was among the 555 students who earned dean’s list honors for the fall 2012 semester at Mount St. Mary’s University in Emmitsburg, Md.
Paris, a freshman, achieved dean’s list by maintaining a 3.4 or higher grade point average. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Paris.
VMI announces dean’s list
The following Virginia Military Institute cadets from Suffolk are among the 668 cadets who were recently named to the deans’ list for the first semester of academic year 2012-13. To be eligible for the dean’s list, a cadet must have a term grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale and no grade below C.
- Matthew D. Schmincke, a junior from Smithfield, who is majoring in international studies. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter L. Schmincke Jr.
- Benjamin R. Eberhardt, a freshman from Suffolk, who is majoring in economics and business. He is the son of Debra K. Eberhardt and Michael D. Eberhardt.
- And Rex B. Hill, a freshman from Suffolk, who is majoring in psychology. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Stephen M. Hill.
