Following are this week’s Suffolk News-Herald Player of the Week nominees:
- Khalil Carroll, senior guard for Nansemond River basketball — Despite the heart-wrenching loss to Western Branch, he performed admirably on offense, shooting 8-of-13 from the floor for 20 points, along with six assists and three steals. He had 10 points, five assists and three steals in a Friday win against Oscar Smith, and led the team in scoring with 11 against Great Bridge.

She posted another triple-double in a win over Grassfield: 13 points, 14 boards and 13 blocks. On Friday, against Hickory, she had 15 points, 12 boards and seven blocks.
- Ashante Humphries, senior guard for Nansemond River basketball — She became only the fourth girl in school history to score 1,000 points on Tuesday against Great Bridge with a 21-point performance, and continued to pad that amount with 17 points against Western Branch and 12 against Oscar Smith.
