Woodrow L. Bryant Sr., widower of Virginia P. Bryant, died March 12, 2011, in Suffolk, Va. He was the last surviving child of Joseph and Addie Bryant. Woodrow was born on Oct. 25, 1919. He was predeceased by sisters, Mildred Grizzard, Gladys Gordon, and Sarah Newsome, and brothers, Carlton and Parker Bryant.
He was a World War II Army veteran and a retired barber. He was a member of Monumental United Methodist Church for more than 55 years.
Survivors include his son, Woodrow L. Bryant Jr. and wife, Eloyse, of Emporia, and a daughter, Paige B. Hill, and husband, James, of Suffolk; grandchildren, Craig and Erin Bryant, Virginia Hill, Kathryn Henderson, Emily Hill, Susan Hill, Kimberly Hill; and great-grandchildren, Mack and James Henderson, Theo and Lucy Hill and Davis Hill. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
The funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 14, at Owen Funeral Home, 303 South Halifax Road, Jarratt, Va., where the family received friends prior to the service. Interment followed at Greensville Memorial Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Monumental United Methodist Church or to the Emporia Volunteer Fire Department.
