Pearl McCreary, 92, a resident of the Village at Woods Edge in Franklin, Va., passed away March 8, 2011. He was born in Harlan County, Ky., the son of the late Rhoda Hall McCreary and Frederick Gordon McCreary. He was predeceased by his wife, Frances Christine Roark McCreary and his son, William McCreary. Pearl was a U.S. Army veteran. He later went on to retire as a railroad conductor for ArmCo Steel.

Pearl is survived by his son, the Rev. Byron McCreary and wife, Louise, of Suffolk, Va.; grandchildren, Barbara Johnson, Rebecca Williams, Jerry McCreary and Jeff McCreary; nine great-grandchildren; three brothers, Max McCreary, of Greenville, Tenn., Lawrence McCreary, of Astor Fla., and Marvin McCreary, of Knoxville, Tenn.

A funeral service will be held Friday, March 11, 2011 at 7 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory, 3515 Robs Drive, Suffolk, Va., with the Rev. Dolan Talbert officiating. Friends may join the family for a time of visitation prior to the service from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home and other times at the residence of the Rev. Byron McCreary. A graveside service will be held Monday, March 14, 2011 at 2 p.m. at Rest Haven Cemetery in Harlan, Ky. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Trinity Christian Church, P.O.
