Suffolk police are asking for help from the public in identifying two people who they say used a stolen debit card.

The card belonged to a woman who had left her wallet in the children’s examination area at Nansemond Pediatrics on Jan. 28. When she went back to retrieve the wallet, it was gone.

The victim later learned that her government benefits debit card, which had been in the stolen wallet, had been used at a 7-Eleven in the 3500 block of Airline Boulevard in Portsmouth and at the Walmart in the 2400 block of Ring Road in Chesapeake.

The 7-Eleven purchase was made at about 5:30 a.m. on Feb. 1 by a black male wearing a black jacket with an orange lining and fur around the hood.

The Walmart purchase was made the same morning. Surveillance video showed two subjects — a black male and a black female — purchasing almost $200 in groceries. The male appeared to be the same one who had made the purchase at the 7-Eleven.

Anyone who might be able to identify one or both subjects should call Crime Line at 1-888-Lock-U-Up. Crime Line callers do not have to give their names or appear in court. If a caller’s information leads to an arrest, the caller can qualify for a reward of up to $1,000.
