To the editor:

As the clock wound down on 2012 and the final hours approached, some members of Congress decided to welcome the New Year with a final fix of binge spending.

As Congress rushed to pass the American Taxpayer Relief Act, Democrats happily inserted additional spending into the legislation.

I believe the president and Congress need to realize we have to stop spending more than the U.S. Treasury takes in Instead of working on entitlement reform and curbing the cost of the federal government, we have once again continued our practice of borrowing more money.

Rightfully, Congressman Randy Forbes opposed this legislation. Forbes understands we need to stop spending, stop sequestration and stop these backroom deals that lead to middle-of-the-night votes.

I am proud to call Randy Forbes my congressman, my brother in Christ and my friend.
