Police are asking for help from the public in finding a man accused of stealing more than $1,000 from the Sonic restaurant where he worked as an assistant manager.

James M. White, 54, of the 1600 block of Darren Circle in Portsmouth, faces three charges of felony embezzlement from his employer, according to Suffolk spokesperson Debbie George. He worked at the Sonic located in the 1500 block of North Main Street.

George stated in a press release that police believe White is aware he is wanted by police and is attempting to avoid apprehension.

Anyone who knows his location is asked to call Crime Line at 1-888-Lock-U-Up. Crime Line callers do not have to give their names or appear in court. If a caller’s information leads to an arrest, the caller can qualify for a reward of up to $1,000.
