A Suffolk church plans a dramatic presentation of the Creation during a dinner theater event next Saturday.
Tabernacle Christian Church, 2500 E. Washington St., will present “The Creation: The First Adam,” at 5 p.m. Feb. 19 at the church. Tickets are $40.
The drama ministry at Metropolitan Baptist Church, under the direction of Arvis Hall, will present the play as part of the 22nd pastoral anniversary celebration for pastor Carlton R. Upton Sr. and his wife, Constance L. Upton.
The play portrays the Garden of Eden with all its animal and plant life, the Creation of man and the temptations that befall Adam and Eve in the garden.
“Everything is Biblically based, and that’s because when you follow God’s word, you can’t go wrong,” Hall said.
The ministry has more than 100 cast members, but next Saturday’s play will include only about 20.
Hall wrote the play herself, as well as Christmas and Easter plays the group also presents.
“Their main purpose is to win souls for Christ, because if they can save just one soul from Satan, then the Lord will be glorified,” Hall said.
The Metropolitan ministry agreed to do the play only last month after another church that had initially agreed to do the play backed out, said Debbie Alexander-Marshall, a member of the pastor’s aid at Tabernacle.
Next week’s event also includes a dinner at the church’s Shepherd Center.
