The Rev. William “Big William” Henry Wilson Sr., 90, of Suffolk, Va., was a native of Brunswick County, Va. He departed this life on Jan. 31, 2011 at Sentara Obici Hospital. He was predeceased by his parents, Anthony and Edith Wilson; one sister, Marie Harris; one brother, Willard Wilson; and a son, James.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Etta Wilson; four daughters, Lassie Anderson (Larry), of Portsmouth, Va., Lennis Wilson, Dorothy Wilson and his devoted daughter, Brenda Wilson; three sons, William Wilson Jr. (Chicago), Elder Melvin Wilson (Helen) and Anthony “Thomas” Wilson; two sisters, Margaret Walton and Bertha Nelson (Wilson); devoted cousin, Annie Layton; devoted goddaughter, Anita Waters; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
Rev. Wilson will be on view from noon to 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 3 at T.E. Cooke-Overton Funeral Home, Inc. The family will receive guests at 1015 Truman Road at all other times. A service of remembrance will take place at noon Friday, Feb. 4 at the funeral home.
