Grand jury issues indictments

A grand jury issued indictments Monday for several notable cases of 2010.

The grand jury handed down indictments for a woman accused of biting another woman’s finger, nearly severing it completely; for three men who police say stole a stuffed black bear’s head from a residence; and for a woman who is charged with abusing her 6-week-old baby.

Lillian Blunt Beasley is charged with malicious wounding after a March 22 incident in which she was allegedly involved in a fight with another woman. City spokeswoman Debbie George said at the time that the victim had put her hand out to block the suspect, and Beasley bit the pinkie finger of the victim’s right hand.

When officers arrived, Beasley was throwing herself in the mud and “barking,” George said.

Beasley was declared unfit for trial in May. She was placed in treatment to restore her mental state to competency.

In addition, three men ages 21-23 were indicted in connection with a November burglary where a black bear’s head was stolen from a residence.

Brandon James Hall, Robert Michael Stepanek and Kelly Donte Goodman were arrested Nov. 13 after a citizen called police early that morning and reported that a house on Copeland Road was being burglarized. A responding officer noticed a vehicle leaving the residence and pulled the suspects over. The three were indicted for statutory burglary, grand larceny and conspiracy to commit statutory burglary.

Also, indictments were issued for Danielle Lynn Holland, who is accused of abusing her 6-week-old son. An examination at the Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters in October revealed the child had multiple broken bones, George said.

Her three other children were removed from the home.
