The Isle of Wight-Smithfield-Windsor Chamber of Commerce hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony at the official grand opening of Country Boy’s Barbeque in Windsor recently.
Guests were treated to sample menu items, which included Country Boy’s award-winning, authentic hickory-smoked southern barbecue; homemade sides of macaroni and cheese, baked beans, sweet potato casserole, warm beer bread and corn bread.
Whether seated at the large wooden community dining table or in one of the other cozy dining areas of the restaurant, customers will enjoy their dining experience in the country rustic atmosphere.
The bathroom entry façade is unique and a reason in its own right for a visit to the restaurant. The façade looks like an old wood slab outhouse complete with vent stack and moon window that glows at night.
Owner Danny Thornton, who credits his wife Heather as being “extremely crafty,” said she has done a lot of the restaurant renovation carpentry work herself.
Since its opening in October, the restaurant has extended its hours of operation by adding a weekday and opening on Sunday for lunch. Hours of operation are Tuesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Country Boy’s Barbeque is located at 20 W. Windsor Blvd.
