Knowledge is power, said Bon Secours spokesperson Lynne Zultanky said recently. And her healthcare group is offering a means by which women can gain knowledge and take control of their health.
Bon Secours a series of lectures for women beginning this month.
“If you’re longing to get your life back and you have aches and pains, this can give you some insight on what kind of orthopedic diseases might be holding you back,” Zultanky said.
The first lecture series is titled “Bones, Moans and Groans.” For this series Bons Secours for Women will team up with the Bon Secours Orthopedic Institute to discuss screening, prevention and treatment of various orthopedic issues. The lectures will explain how orthopedic issues present themselves differently in women than in men.
This series will also feature free screenings including posture and balance screenings and body fat testing.
The first lecture in the series will be held this month at four different locations including the Harbour View Boulevard Hilton Garden Inn on Jan. 27 from 6 to 9 p.m. Orthopedic doctors Michael Caines, Ernesto Luciano, Stephen Blasdell, and Mark Kerner will speak, along with physical therapist, Mary Catherine Whitley and registered dietician Sheila Bailey.
If you are unable to attend the event in Suffolk, the first lecture also will be held at Mary Immaculate Hospital on Tuesday, at Bon Secours In Motion Physical Therapy in Norfolk on Jan. 20 and at Bon Secours Health Center at Virginia Beach on Jan. 25. All of these events will be held from 6 to 9 p.m.
“Any of our lecture series give women a very powerful tool in taking control of their health. And that’s information,” Zultanky said. “Bon Secours is empowering women to take charge of their health.”
