Clarence White Sr.

SUFFOLK — Clarence (“Dude” and “Picky”) White Sr., 85, of the 900 block of Truman Road, passed away Nov. 19, 2012, in Sentara Obici Hospital of Suffolk, Va. He was born in Nansemond County and preceded in death by his mother, Willie Mae Rogers, and father, Rufus White Sr.

He was a graduate of East Suffolk High School Class of 1945 and a veteran of two tours of duty in the United States Army. Clarence was honorably discharged from the Army in 1950. After 37 years of service, he retired from the Naval Weapons Station of Yorktown, Va. He joined Little Grove Baptist Church at an early age.

He was married to the late Margaret E. Dillard White for 56 years. From this union they had four children, Veronica Hunter (Rolland), of Suffolk, Va.; Clarence White Jr. (Chung), of High Point, N.C.; Sheila White, of Hampton, Va.; and Jacqueline Riddick, of Chesapeake, Va.; four grandchildren, Ahmad White, Rolland Jr., Chiquita Riddick and Ashley Hunter; one great-grandchild, Londyn Townes; two brothers, James White and Elder Bernard White (Agenora); one sister, Marion W. Morgan; sister-in-law, Helen White; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, Nov. 26, 2012, at Little Grove Baptist Church, Suffolk, officiated by Pastor Ralph Richardson. Interment will be in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens.
