John Craig Watson, 82, of 117 S. Fifth St., Suffolk, died Friday, Dec. 24, 2010 at Sentara Obici Hospital. He was a native of North Carolina and the son of the late Grover and Lula Watson. He was also predeceased by his wife, Bessie Watson; his stepmother, Elizabeth Watson; two sisters, Elsie Porter and Rosa Lee Bryant.

He attended East Suffolk High School. He retired as a first class machinist from Portsmouth Naval Shipyard after 44 years. He attended Tabernacle Christian Church as a young man.

He leaves to cherish his memory: one sister, Dorothy Worrell, of Philadelphia, Pa.; one brother, Willie B. Watson, of Suffolk; a devoted friend, Dorothy White; 10 nieces, six nephews, a host of great-great-nieces and -nephews, cousins and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, Dec. 31, 2010 in the chapel of
