The Suffolk News-Herald Cheer Fund has gotten a boost from many businesses this year, Mike Duman Auto Sales being among them.
The car dealership’s employees have raised about $600 through employee contributions to add to owner Mike Duman’s annual $500 donation, for a total of about $1,100 to help needy children in Suffolk.
“I’m sure we’ll do it again next year,” Duman said.
This is the second year the dealership’s employees have participated through the company.
Duman also was offering to match donations made at the dealership through today up to a total of $1,000.
He also would make a $100 Cheer Fund donation for every customer who mentioned the Cheer Fund when purchasing a car.
As of Thursday, nobody had taken advantage of that offer. But Duman has decided to extend the donation-with-purchase offer through next week’s special events that are kicking off the business’s 30th anniversary.
Monday through Thursday next week, four nonprofit organizations will be featured at the dealership, with chances for customers to support the groups and be entered in drawings for gift certificates for discounted vehicles or services. For more information about those events, check Sunday’s paper.
The business also collected toys from employees and customers to give to Toys for Tots and the King’s Kids program.
