On Dec. 22, 1939, in Lugoff, S.C., God graced the late Major and Bessie Bennett with a precious daughter named Lenora Anita Bennett. She was a graduate of Jackson High School. After graduation, she moved to New York City, where she attended Taff Business School and Lehman College. While in New York, she met, fell in love with and married the love of her life, Wilbert Taylor. Her caring and compassionate spirit led her to care for others all of her days. Lenora was employed at Chock full o’Nuts in New York City. Returning to South Carolina, she worked for the Department of Mental Health and Clemson Extension.

On Saturday, Dec. 11, 2010, at Palmetto Health Baptist in Columbia, S.C., God in His perfect wisdom saw His child weary and tired from her years of fighting. He kept His word, and she transitioned from this earthly home to her heavenly home in glory. Her years of dealing with her earthly body are no longer. God restored her to a perfect body, one without pain and suffering.

Survivors include her loving husband, Wilbert Taylor; children, Kim Taylor Warren (Thoyd), Michelle Blaylock (Mario); two special daughters, Stacy Freeman and Ann Frye; grandchildren, Taylor, T.J. and Morgan; siblings, Gladys Wood (Charles), Councilman Leroy Bennett (Susie), Willie Dickey (Nathaniel), Robert DeWitt, Patricia Redmond (James) and Richard Bennett (Shirley); one brother-in-law, Leon Taylor (Sally) and a host of nieces, nephews, godchildren, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Clayton Bennett, and her best friend, Pernell Bennix.
