The community favorite Womanless Beauty Pageant will return for its 11th installment in February, and organizers are selling tickets and looking for contestants.
“It’s just a really fun time to come out, and it’s just hysterical,” said Susan Blair, one of the organizers of the event. “You can go out and have a good meal and laugh and be entertained for a couple hours.”
Proceeds from the all-male pageant, put on by the Nansemond River Pilot Club, benefit the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life.
Contestants include notable local men, including business owners and community leaders. The event sells out early every year, so those wishing to be in attendance should get tickets soon, Blair added.
This year’s theme is “Next Generation of Beauty and Cures.” Dave Parker once again will serve as the master of ceremonies.
The event is scheduled for 6 p.m. Feb. 5 at the Suffolk National Guard Armory, 2761 Godwin Blvd. Roy’s and Ricky’s Catering will provide the evening’s meal.
Tickets can be purchased for $20 at Suffolk Insurance, 202 Market St.
Contestants who wish to participate should call Deborah Harrell at 377-7164.
