SUFFOLK — S. Carter Hicks, aged 68, passed on Oct. 26, 2012. He was born in Suffolk, Va., to Carlton and Josephine Hicks. He was a retired sergeant from the Suffolk Police Department and Suffolk Sheriff’s Department.
He is survived by his children, Linda Hicks Lynch (Richie), of Suffolk, Va., Duane Hicks, of Suffolk, Va., Missy Hicks Cornett (Cecil), of Carrollton, Va.; grandchildren Meagan Cornett and Timothy Cornett, of Carrollton, Va., Richie Lynch Jr. and Carolann Lynch, of Suffolk, Va., and Duane Carter Hicks Jr., of Suffolk, Va.; brothers, Billy Hicks (Debbie) and Joe Hicks (Paula); sisters, Sandra Rhoads (Gerald) and Jane Williams, all of Suffolk, Va.; a host of special nieces and nephews; as well as honorary grandchildren Ashley Molnar Evans, of Durham, N.C., and Lindsay Molnar, of Virginia Beach, Va.
He also had a special friend and companion, Pat Johnson, of Suffolk, Va., and special friends Vickie Jones and Glen Cardwell, of Kentucky.
Carter was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Hicks, his parents, and his brothers, Johnnie and Bobby Hicks.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, Oct. 30, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Baker-Foster Funeral Home, Bennett’s Creek Chapel. The funeral will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 31, at 2 p.m. at Baker-Foster Funeral Home, Bennett’s Creek Chapel, with burial to follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the National Law Enforcement Memorial, 901 E. Street NW, Washington, D.C., 20004.
