The Rev. and Mrs. R. Stewart McCarter, of Suffolk, Va., are proud to announce the engagement of their daughter, Savannah Leigh McCarter, to Stephen Michael Arrington, of Holland, Va.

Stephen is the son of George Michael and Glynda Gillis Arrington, of Holland, Va. He is the maternal grandson of Doris Gillis and Doyle Gillis, also of Holland, and the paternal grandson of Peggy Arrington and the late George Arrington, also of Holland.

Savannah is the maternal granddaughter of Linda Valentine Rustin, of Brunswick, Ga., and the late Jerry Haskin Valentine. Savannah’s paternal grandparents are Katherine Stewart McCarter, of Charleston, S.C., and the late Randolph Melrose McCarter.

Stephen is a 2001 graduate of Lakeland High School. He is employed by Liberty University in Lynchburg, Va. Stephen is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in religion at Liberty.

Savannah is a 2008 graduate of Portsmouth Christian High School. She is employed by J.Crew and is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in English at Liberty University in Lynchburg, Va.

A wedding is planned for late April 2011 in Suffolk, Va.
