Vivian L. Mizell

Vivian L. Mizell, affectionately known as “Loua,” 84, passed away on Oct. 21, 2012. She was born on Dec. 30, 1927, in Gum Neck, N.C., to the late Riley Cooper and Mammie Liverman.
She was a member of New Paul Temple Church until her health began to fail. She was preceded in death by her husband, Emmett J. Mizell; a daughter, Vivian J. Cooke; son, John Mizell; and two grandsons, Curtis Mizell and James L. Langston.
Vivian is survived by a daughter, Juanita Thompson (Hilton); a son, James Mizell (Tammie); four grandchildren that she raised, Melissa, Elmore III, Travis and Robert; a great-granddaughter that she raised, Shalecia; 14 grandchildren and many other family and friends.
A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday from noon to 7 p.m. A funeral service will take place at 1 p.m. on Saturday at New Paul Temple in Suffolk, Va., and she will be laid to rest at Carver Memorial Cemetery.
