SAL prepares juried exhibition

The Suffolk Art League will hold its Annual Juried Exhibition at the Suffolk Art Gallery from Nov. 10 through Dec. 21.

This exhibition is open to artists working in any medium. Artwork should be original, completed within the past two years, and not previously exhibited at the Suffolk Art Gallery (formerly Suffolk Museum).

This year’s juror will be Carolyn Cobb Wright, director of exhibition programming at the Visual Arts Center of Richmond. Wright earned a bachelor’s degree in art history, studio art and journalism from Washington and Lee University and a Master of Arts in art history from the University of Virginia.

She has worked at The National Gallery, Monticello and Ravenscroft School and served on the boards of Second Street Gallery, Charlottesville and the North Carolina Museum of Art in Raleigh where she was vice chair of the Collections Committee.

Artist must deliver their artwork to the Suffolk Art Gallery, 118 Bosley Ave., on Oct. 27 between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. or on Oct. 30 between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. Works may be shipped to the gallery, but must arrive no later than Oct. 30.

The exhibition will offer $2,500 in awards, including a first-place award of $500 plus the opportunity to have an exhibit at the Suffolk Art Gallery in 2013.
