Bettie Mae Copeland Vick, 77, of 404 Roosevelt Drive, Suffolk, died Friday, Oct. 12, 2012, at Sentara Obici Hospital. She was a native of Suffolk and the daughter of the late Wilroy Copeland and Annie Mae Gary Copeland.
She was a 1954 graduate of East Suffolk High School. She was a member of Greater Sweet Beulah Apostolic Church where she was a member of the senior and gospel choirs, Lottie Jordan Missionary Circle, Pastor’s Aid and the Mother’s Board.
She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted husband of 57 years, William R. Vick; one son, Bernard R. Vick (Audrey), of Chesapeake, Va.; one sister, Elsie C. Harden (Henry), of Brooklyn, N.Y.; two brothers, Suffragan Bishop Madison G. Copeland (Pauline), of Suffolk, and Filmore Copeland; grandsons, the Rev. Andre Vick (Nicole), of Fayetteville, N.C., Jeremy R. Vick (Jo), of Fayetteville, and Joshua W. Vick, of Portsmouth; great-grandchildren; a special uncle, James W. Baker, of San Francisco, Calif.; goddaughter, Karen Mayfield Jones; brother-in-law, Lloyd Vick (Catherine); other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012, at Greater Sweet Beulah Apostolic Church with Elder Billy Potts Jr., eulogist, Suffragan Bishop Madison Copeland, pastor. Interment will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery. A wake will be held Friday from 7 to 8 p.m. at Crocker Funeral Home. Condolences may be extended to the family at www.crockerfuneralhome.com.
