Ninth-grader charged with marijuana possession

A ninth-grade student at Lakeland High School has been charged after police officers allegedly found marijuana in his possession.

The incident happened Wednesday around 9:48 a.m., city spokeswoman Diana Klink said. Officers were informed the student had the illegal drug, she said, and allegedly found it upon investigation.

Suffolk Public Schools spokeswoman Bethanne Bradshaw said he was recommended for expulsion.
