Fortune 500 company Dollar Tree has unveiled its third discount variety store in the city of Suffolk, opening the doors to customers in a North Suffolk shopping center on Tuesday.
The new Bennett’s Creek Crossing Dollar Tree, at 3569 Bridge Road, is a 10,000 square-foot, freestanding building.
According to a city press release, it offers “a wide assortment of quality general merchandise, contemporary seasonal goods and everyday necessities and consumables,” all of which never cost more than a dollar.
The stores are popular with teachers, helping them supply their classrooms for less money, according to the company’s website.
“Dollar Tree continues to grow, and is proud to be part of the Suffolk community,” Dollar Tree spokesperson Chelle Davis stated in the release. “Our stores are open seven days a week and offer a fast, fun, and friendly shopping experience.”
Suffolk Mayor Linda T. Johnson, who cut the ribbon to officially open the store, wished Dollar Tree “continued success in our community.”
“Dollar Tree is an important company in Hampton Roads,” Johnson continued, “and it is wonderful that they continue to invest in our region.”
City Economic Development Director Kevin Hughes said in an emailed statement that Dollar Tree’s “continued investment demonstrates that Suffolk is an established location for retail success.”
“It’s exciting to see Suffolk’s retail sector expand,” he said.
The Chesapeake-headquartered company has more than 4,500 stores in America’s 48 contiguous states and five Canadian provinces.
The other two Dollar Trees in Suffolk are at 2815 Godwin Blvd., and a Dollar Tree Deal$ is located at 922 North Main St.
