Charles Oscar Hawkins Jr., a native of Suffolk, died quietly in his home on Sept. 26, 2012. Born Aug. 7, 1961, to the late Charles Oscar Hawkins Sr. and Alonia Marie Hawkins and the late Leola Burgess.
He was a former member of Tabernacle Christian Church and a former employee of Smithfield Packing Company.
Survivors include two sisters, Vanessa Ezemba (Callistus), of Fredericksburg, and Deborah Hawkins, of Williamsburg; one brother, Tony Hawkins (Lorraine), of Hampton; two stepsons, Tevin and Travis Scott; a devoted uncle and aunt, Alfonzo Hawkins (Jeanette), of Suffolk; three aunts, Shirley Hawkins, Belinda Savage and Janice Jones, all of Suffolk; great-uncle and -aunt, Bobby and Bernice Wright, of Portsmouth; devoted cousins, Margaret M. Higgs, of Norfolk, and Avis Hawkins, of Woodbridge; a devoted friend, Veronica Boone, of Suffolk; two godsisters, Mattie Jenkins and Saundra Hunter (Major), of Portsmouth; one godbrother, Columbus Spruill Jr. (Doris), of Washington, D.C.; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 30, 2012, at Metropolitan Baptist Church officiated by Dr. Robert Hobbs. Interment will be Monday in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens.
