The Suffolk grand jury handed down 156 indictments against 59 defendants on Monday. They include a man accused of shooting his 3-year-old son in June.

Michael Anthony Goodman allegedly shot his son in the shoulder on June 15 during a dispute with the child’s mother at her apartment complex in the 900 block of White Marsh Road.

According to police, Goodman approached the apartment about the same time the child’s mother was returning home with her two children and another man. Goodman and the woman allegedly got into an argument about Goodman’s son being in the presence of another man. He allegedly produced a semi-automatic handgun and pointed it at the other man. He then allegedly fired a bullet that struck the boy in the shoulder.

Police said Goodman claimed the boy shot himself after finding the gun in Goodman’s vehicle. However, police found a spent cartridge casing in the hallway. The gun was found in Goodman’s vehicle.
