Thanks to Suffolk citizens for help, hospitality

To the editor:
We would like to take this opportunity to thank some kind folk of Suffolk who helped us out when we had car trouble last weekend.
We were driving to Virginia Beach with a truck camper when the transmission blew just outside Suffolk. Someone called 911, and within a few minutes the police and fire crew arrived.
Officer Lambe stayed with us the whole time as traffic whizzed by on Route 58 and until John Brinkley arrived with his tow truck in the dark.
Mr. Brinkley was very kind to us and took us to a hotel and saw that we were checked in. He then towed the truck and camper to his service center on Dill Road to await Monday morning.
Officer Lambe and John Brinkley went beyond the call of duty to help out a couple of senior citizens who were more than a thousand miles from home.
The AAMCO crew were also very nice to us and fixed the problem and sent us on our way.
Last but not least, we would like to say a word of thanks to the special people of Bethelem Christian Church, where we worshiped Sunday morning as the Rev. Totty brought an inspiring and uplifting message from God’s Word.
Many thanks to all of you. We will never forget you.
